HAWAII BIRTH CERTIFICATE
Which Method Should You Choose?
Two Ways to Get a Birth Certificate in Hawaii
The Old-Fashioned Way:
Curious about how to get a birth certificate in Hawaii? You have a couple of options.
Hawaii law requires applications to have a "direct and tangible interest" in the birth certificate—that is, you must be the person named on the record, their spouse, their parent, their descendant, a legal representative, or another party with a valid reason to request one of these documents. For this reason, you must be able to provide the following information:
Hawaii birth certificates cost $10 for the first copy, and $4 for each additional copy (if requested at the same time as the original). Note: There is also a $2.50 "portal administration fee" for each order up to five copies, and each five-copy increment after that. You can pay with a cashier’s check, certified check, or money order made payable to the State Department of Health. Personal checks are not accepted.
Mail your completed application and all supporting materials to:
State Department of Health
Office of Health Status Monitoring
Issuance/Vital Statistics Section
P.O. Box 3378

After your application has been approved, the certificates should be mailed within six to eight weeks.
