California Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates
California Vital Records birth death and marriage certificates are issued from 1905 to present. Certificates are issued by either the California Department of Health, the county recorders office where the event occurred, or in some cases by a city hall of records. Adoption certificates are generally issued by the California Department of Health, but not always.
California certificates can be either informational, or certified. Certified versions are valid for official purposes, such as obtaining a driver license, passport, or for other legal purposes. Informational copies are not valid for official use.
All birth certificate packages through this website are for certified versions.
